Short Walk: The Sunshine Stroll

Bursting with charm, Giddarbaha's riveting Sadar Bazaar is a perfect starting point for a short amble. Filled with colorful markets and aromatic eateries, it’s hard to resist the magnetic pull of this marketplace. This 2km (1.24 miles) walk is an ode to Giddarbaha’s lively pulse. This loop should take about half an hour, bulging shopping bags notwithstanding!

From Sadar Bazaar, head south towards Vaishno Glass House, then round the corner onto Railway Road. Allow yourself to get lost in the hustle and bustle of local life. You'll pass authentic Indian cuisine spots and quaint boutiques. Don't skimp on samosas or the oh-so-coveted jutti sandals!

Medium Walk: The Heritage Hike

Setting off from the tranquil Moga Road, this 5km (3.1 miles) walk immerses you in Giddarbaha's rich history and stunning architecture. You should clear this heritage hike in about an hour and a half, give or take a few pit-stops for chai and chit-chat!

March north towards Punjab Gramin Bank, offering a snapshot of financial life in the Punjab. Then, veer east to admire the magnificent Gurdwara Rori Sahib, a revered Sikh shrine sprinkled with soul-soothing calmth. Next, aim for the beloved cinema hall – Bajwa Theatre. Though old, its charm hasn't faded, whisking you back to Bollywood's golden age.

Long Walk: The Explorer's Trot

For those itching to stretch their legs and their horizons, embark on this 10km (6.21 miles) voyage. Spanning roughly 3 hours, this stride is best completed in the crackling warmth of the morning or the glow of late afternoon.

Kick-off from the heartwarming Giddarbaha Public Park, continue east along Gidderbaha - Badal Road, and break for a breather at St. Paul's Church. From there, navigate north to the monumental India - Pakistan Border Pillar. The sight, a potent reminder of historical conflicts and resilience, will give you a dose of perspective with your exercise. Turn briefly west along Lambi Road and circle back to the park, having soaked in Giddarbaha’s exquisite tapestry of history, culture, and local vibrancy. And remember, it's not just about the destination but the journey too. Adventure is afoot!

Hey, I’m Evan! Even though I’ve been bitten by a piranha, left stranded in the Sahara when my camel ditched me, and even spent a night in a Bhutanese jail over a supposedly stolen fruit (I swear I didn’t take it!), I still love traveling so much I don’t think I’ll ever stop. With over 130 countries under my belt, I’m always on the lookout for the next wild adventure… hopefully with fewer bites, camel betrayals, and misunderstandings over fruit!
