Where is Tulsa?

Huddled in the heart of "Green Country" in Oklahoma, our dear friend Tulsa eagerly awaits our visit. Nudging the far northeastern corner of the state, it's tucked between the Osage Hills and the Ozark Mountains – a setting that's the stuff of postcards. It's grandeur on a ridiculously scenic scale. Imagine if geographical features were painted onto a canvas by Mother Nature – that’s Tulsa for you!

Population in Tulsa

Beyond the postcard-worthy views, Tulsa is quite a bustling city with a population bubbling around the 400,000 mark. Depending on how you like your crowd scale, it’s either the smallish-big city without the typical hustle-bustle, or the biggish-small town with an infectious energy. It's the Goldilocks' soup serving of city sizes – just right!

What is Tulsa Known For

Steam whistle, please! Time to unpack the treasure trove that is Tulsa. It's famously known as the "Oil Capital of the World". Tulsa quite literally oozed its way to prominence in the early 20th century, during the great Oklahoma oil boom. This black gold bonanza shaped much of the city's stunning architecture and cultural heritage.

Step into Tulsa's bustling downtown and your eyes will feast upon striking examples of Art Deco buildings. The aptly named "Deco District" stands proudly as an architectural time capsule of the city's early prosperity. The prominent examples include Philcade and Philtower buildings, plus the dazzling Boston Avenue Methodist Church.

But beauty in Tulsa isn't just concrete deep. The city also serves up an impressive cultural smorgasbord. Don’t miss the Cherry Street and Brookside districts for world-class cuisine and shopping. The Greenwood District, once nicknamed "Black Wall Street," is a potent symbol of African-American enterprise and resilience.

Oh, and if you're a music buff, your ears might do a happy dance knowing that Tulsa is a treasure box of sound! With roots firmly entrenched in the country, rockabilly, and western swing genres, it crafted the 'Tulsa Sound'. A toe-tapping concoction of musical styles that's as eclectic as the city itself!

And lest we forget, this city knows how to party! The annual "Mayfest" art and music festival is a colorful celebration that paints the streets in vibrant hues of community spirit and artistic flair.

Weather in Tulsa

The city folds all the four seasons into an artist’s palette. It warmly wears sunny summers with temperatures nudging into the 90s. Autumn, no less the charmer, swirls in with vibrant leaves that billboard the city streets in red and gold. Winters, although occasionally flirting with snow, remain largely mild with temperatures bobbing around the mid 40's. Spring, the weather equivalent of a drumroll, arrives amidst blooming dogwoods and redbuds

If you're a fan of distinct seasons, then the Tulsa weather won't disappoint. Like a tide’s ebb and flow, there's an enchanting rhythm to the changing seasons, each with its own charm and character.

Tulsa is more than just a city. It’s a stroke of nature's brush, an architectural dream, a cultural mecca, and a symphony of sounds – all wrapped up in a geographical gem. So pack your bags and let's explore this fabulous city together. After all, as the locals would say, there's something 'Tulsawesome' for everyone.

Hey, I’m Evan! Even though I’ve been bitten by a piranha, left stranded in the Sahara when my camel ditched me, and even spent a night in a Bhutanese jail over a supposedly stolen fruit (I swear I didn’t take it!), I still love traveling so much I don’t think I’ll ever stop. With over 130 countries under my belt, I’m always on the lookout for the next wild adventure… hopefully with fewer bites, camel betrayals, and misunderstandings over fruit!
