Walking Tours to discover Key West

Quick & Snappy: Hemingway's Highlights - 2.5 km/1.5 miles (Approximately 35 minutes)

You can't talk Key West without mentioning one Ernest Hemingway. Let's start our short walk at his Home and Museum, an inevitable starting point for any Key West novice. Enjoy a purrrrfect encounter with the polydactyl kitties (they've got extra toes - how cool is that!). Hemingway’s love for felines is still honored in a feline population that descends from his original cohabitants.

Just a block east, you'll find Key West Lighthouse, offering panoramic views, history, and a little cardio. You've earned that climbing achievement; now rejoice with an Instagram-ready snapshot at the top.

Our last stop is Southernmost Point - you can't get any 'southier' in the continental US. Remember: you're only 90 miles away from Cuba, that's closer than Miami!

Medium Mosey: Duval Crawl - 5 km/3 miles (Approximately 1.5 hours)

Let's kick off our medium-length walk on Duval Street. You'll find an impressive array of art galleries, cafes, bars, and souvenir shops to entertain every temptation.

Halfway down Duval Street, take a detour to the historic Truman’s Little White House, a peerless peek at presidential pastimes. Back on Duval, continue to Mallory Square - a hotspot for spectacular sunsets and lively street shows.

Cap off the evening with dinner and dancing at Sloppy Joe's, a Hemingway favorite. Blade of grass between your toes, conch chowder in hand - living the Key West dream, aren’t you?

Long Leisure: Key West Full Monty - 10km/6 miles (Approximately 3 hours)

Starting again at Hemingway's house, we'll weave our way through the highlights of the previous walks, but with an exciting, elongated twist.

Head east to White Street Pier and Higgs Beach, where countless shorebirds await. The nearby Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center provides a free and educational break.

Stroll up to Smathers Beach - a pearl of sand and aquamarine, ideal for a mid-walk dip. Re-energized, it's time to explore Fort East Martello Museum, exhibiting vintage Key West with a touch of the paranormal – haunted Robert the Doll resides here!

Wind down with a triumphant return to Duval Street. Reward yourself with dinner, a tropical drink, and the distant hum of Jimmy Buffett at a beachfront restaurant. You've well and truly conquered Key West – and learned some fabulous factoids in the process!
