Belissimo! Rome - the Eternal City, the cradle of Western Civilization, the heart of dolce vita, and oh, so much more! Let's journey through time, space, and pasta together, no passport required. Fasten your virtual seatbelts, fellow travelers - it's time for a Roman holiday!

Local Time Zone

When in Rome, do as the Romans do, but first, make sure you're keeping time like the Romans do, too. Rome uses Central European Time (CET). In Latin terms, that's “Tempus Centralis Europaei" – because everything sounds more grandiose in Latin, doesn't it?

With the delicious warmth of summer and the crisp charm of winter, Rome alters its clocks to make the most of this Italian paradise. That means it follows Central European Standard Time (GMT+1) from the last Sunday in October to the last Sunday in March. From the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October, the Romans revel in the extra hour of daylight and turn their clocks forward for daylight saving; this is called Central European Summer Time (GMT+2). So, whether you're planning to throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain or feast on a heavenly bowl of spaghetti carbonara, make sure your timing is – chef's kiss – perfetto!

Time Difference to Major World Cities

Alright, global jet-setters, let's compare apples and oranges - or rather, slices of pizza and spring rolls, baguettes, and burgers.

Let's say you're sitting in a NYC pizzeria, wondering what time it is in the Eternal City, you'd need to add 6 hours due to New York being on Eastern Standard Time. Big Apple to the Big Spaghetti, anyone?

If you're in sprawling Tokyo, busily perfecting your sushi roll while wondering about your Roman friends, remember Japan is 8 hours ahead.

Drenched in London fog dreaming of Roman sunshine? London is one hour behind Rome. A hop, skip, and a jump across the channel -- quite literally, as Rome is always a good idea.

Finally, if you’re sipping a flat white in Sydney and reminiscing about sipping cappuccinos near the Colosseum, Australia is a whopping 9 hours ahead of our beloved, Roman city.

Now that we've got the times squared away, we’re all ready for our global Roman rendez-vous. Next time, we'll dive into the wonder that is the Sistine Chapel's ceiling frescoes! Arrivederci for now, amici. Stay tuned and stay curious!

Hey, I’m Evan! Even though I’ve been bitten by a piranha, left stranded in the Sahara when my camel ditched me, and even spent a night in a Bhutanese jail over a supposedly stolen fruit (I swear I didn’t take it!), I still love traveling so much I don’t think I’ll ever stop. With over 130 countries under my belt, I’m always on the lookout for the next wild adventure… hopefully with fewer bites, camel betrayals, and misunderstandings over fruit!
